Phil Galatas
Master sculptor and painter, is a native of Slidell, Louisiana. Having a self-taught artistic background he began to express his artistic passion in the form of carvings and paintings to communicate with other wildlife enthusiasts. His art has found a home in many public and private collections, including the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, home of the World Champions, the Phillips Petroleum Museum of Oklahoma, and the Louisiana Museum of Art. He has exhibited in National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., New York City, Easton Waterfowl Festival, Easton, Maryland, and toured several cities in Japan. He has been involved with Wild Wings Publishing from Lake City, Minnesota, who has marketed reproductions of his decoys nationwide. Over the last few years, Phil's focus has gravitated toward two-dimensional art primarily working in acrylic and oil paints. He has most recently gained notoriety for his "Resurrection" painting he completed after Hurricane Katrina and which now graces a regional wine by the same name.
